The beauty industry is always evolving. If you have naturally thin or sparse eyebrows, you may have considered microblading. However, there is another semi-permanent makeup procedure you can receive to get fuller, thicker brows. Keep reading to learn everything you need to know about microshading brows.
While microblading is a process that involves the application of pigments to the brow area in hair-like strokes, microshading involves the application of pigments to the brow area in dots. This approach fills in your brows, rather than recreating them. Microshading is ideal for individuals who want a more discreet, subtle look.
Some artists may also refer to microshading as powdered brows, airbrushed brows, mist tattooing, or stardust brows. All of these terms refer to the same semi-permanent makeup procedure where micro-dotted deposits of pigment are added to the skin to create fullness in the brow area.
Microblading isn’t for everyone. For example, if you’re a person with oily skin, you sweat a lot, or you spend a lot of time in the water or the sun, your microblading results may not last as long as you want. Moisture can dull the results of microblading, but microshading is longer-lasting, even under these conditions.
Before your microshading appointment, plan ahead by avoiding blood thinners, Botox, and alcohol. When you arrive at your appointment, your artist may apply a numbing cream to your brow area if necessary. Then, the artist will create an outline based on the shape of your brows and the shape of your face. Together, you and a microshading artist can agree on an outline that is most flattering for your unique appearance.
After your first appointment, you will need a touch-up appointment in three to four weeks. As you heal from your microshading, you want to avoid getting your brows wet. As your skin heals, do not scratch, rub, or pick at it. You also want to avoid getting sweaty or exposing your brows to the sun. Additionally, do not wear makeup or put skincare products on your healing brows.
